About

Shalene Grinder earned her MSSW from the University of Tennessee and is licensed in the State of Tennessee as a Clinical Social Worker. Shalene has over 25 years' experience in the field of psychotherapy, specializing in the areas of individual and family counseling. The typical goal is to improve a patient's quality of life through cognitive behavior therapy interventions. Her experience has led to opportunities to present workshops at the national, state, and local level on topics related to children, teens, and families.

Shalene has also worked extensively on the topics of anxiety, depression, family/life changes, school/community struggles, grief/loss, divorce, and a variety of other topics. In addition to outpatient counseling experience, Shalene worked at The Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt as an Assessment Specialist, which helped to sharpen her diagnostic skills and knowledge of hospital-based services. In her spare time, Shalene enjoys exercising, time with family/friends, her dogs and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
